SuperValu Labs: Deferred Friction Checkout
The Problem: The Authentication Wall
Grocery apps need location data upfront to display accurate, store-specific inventory. However, forcing an immediate login especially one that kicks users out to an external web browser breaks immersion and causes massive drop-off. We are demanding ultimate commitment before letting them see the aisles.
The Solution: Defer Friction, Build Investment
Separate location from identity. This sprint replaces the hard login wall with a frictionless, native "Location Gate" capturing the user's fulfilment zone without a password. Guests browse freely and build psychological investment in their trolley. Authentication is then triggered via a native iOS bottom sheet (avoiding external redirects entirely) exactly at the point of highest intent: Checkout.
